Mushy Pompom Bag Charm
Materials
Clover Pompom Maker in XL and Medium
Sharp scissors
Key ring
Worsted weight or bulky yarn in red, white, and tan
Hot glue gun
Making the top of the mushroom
Begin by opening the XL pompom maker and wrapping one side of it with an even layer of red yarn.
Then, cover the red layer with a very sparse wrapping of white yarn. The more white yarn you include, the more spots your mushroom will have. Continue this layering several times until the pompom maker is completely full.
It will look like this when it is ready to be cut!
Use your sharp scissors to cut down the center of both sides of the pompom maker.
Secure the pompom by tying a tight double knot with a 10-inch length of red yarn.
Free your pompom and give it a severe haircut. I usually reduce my pompom down by about a third. This creates a more dense and fluffy pompom.
Making the stem
Use a smaller sized pompom maker (I prefer the Medium size) and create a fully tan pompom. This will be the mushroom stem.
When trimming down this pompom, shape it into more of a cylinder than a sphere.
Assembly and finishing
Attach the stem to the top using ample hot glue.
Secure the key ring by tying a tight double knot with the tails on the top of your mushroom. Feel free to secure it with a dab of hot glue. Trim the tails.
Your mushroom is complete! Feel free to experiment with stem/top size for a varying look.
